Twice a year, our team steps away from the office for a day to intentionally focus on how we run our business and how we can continue serving our clients with excellence. It’s one of the most important days we have as a team. Day‑to‑day, we’re busy meeting with families, researching markets, and working through planning conversations — but these retreats give us space to zoom out, reflect, and make sure we’re building a team that’s always improving and keeping pace with a fast‑changing world.
Recently, for our Q1 2026 retreat, we spent the day in downtown Lakeland and grabbed lunch together at The Joinery. It’s amazing how simply getting out of the office and into a different environment helps us think more clearly and creatively. We kicked things off with a fun team icebreaker, which helps get everyone relaxed and connected before diving into deeper conversations. I like to say good team planning requires good teamwork — and nothing reveals a team dynamic faster than icebreaker games. Let’s just say we learn who the ultra‑competitive ones are, who thinks outside the box, and who can make the whole room laugh.
From there, we broke down the three major pillars of our business — areas that everything we do ultimately falls under:
Personalized Financial Planning
We revisited how we approach planning, how to make the process even more meaningful, and explored new tools that can help us bring more clarity to our clients’ long‑term goals. With technology rapidly evolving, we’re always looking for ways to blend the best of new innovations with the personal, relationship‑centered planning that defines our team.
Professional Investment Management
We reviewed our Investment Committee’s strategies, research processes, and discussed how to stay nimble in a market environment that moves faster than ever. We also examined how emerging technology and AI might help us work more efficiently behind the scenes — giving us more time to evaluate opportunities and, most importantly, to communicate proactively with our clients.
World‑Class Client Service
This is the cornerstone of our business. We broke down what’s working well, where we can tighten things up, and what new systems might help us make our clients’ experiences even smoother. Whether it’s simplifying the onboarding process, executing better follow-up, or making it easier to get quick answers when you need them, we want every interaction with our team to feel intentional and effortless.
One highlight that we’re especially excited about is a new, secure AI‑powered notetaking tool that supports us during client meetings. This technology helps capture key details accurately and automatically, allowing us to stay fully engaged in the conversation without worrying about writing everything down. It also enhances our ability to follow up promptly and thoroughly — giving our clients a smoother, more attentive experience from start to finish.
Throughout the day, we put together a list of clear action items — not just ideas, but specific next steps we’ll be taking in the coming months. That is always important to us: turning good conversations into real changes that benefit our clients and friends.
These retreats are special to us because they reinforce something we hope you always feel from our team — that we never want to get stagnant. We want to grow, adapt, and continue earning the trust our clients place in us. Stepping away for a day gives us the clarity and energy to do just that.
We came away encouraged, aligned, and excited for what’s ahead in turning insights into action to ensure we help our clients, as well as our team, leave a better Legacy. As always, we appreciate the trust you instill in our team, and do not take it lightly.
